The Lodge was originally called The Lodge of Loyalty. Mariners Lodge, No. 222 were the Sponsoring Lodge.  The Lodge’s number was originally No 349 and was consecrated as an “Antient” Lodge on the 16^th October 1810, meeting at “Premises unknown.” It was however also a member of the “Moderns” and at Consecration was No. 488 which continued through after the amalgamation of the two Grand Lodges in December 1813. The Lodge Number became No. 299 in 1832 then No. 243 in 1863.

After the consecration, the Lodge met at a variety of places as follows: Private Rooms (1810), Coles Hotel, Market Street (1828);  Assembly Rooms(1844); Private Rooms, Victoria Road (1854); Masonic Hall, Court Place, (1858);  St Julian’s Hall, (1882); the Masonic Temple, Le Marchant Street, (1883); La Villette Hotel, St Martin (1995)  and finally our present home at The Masonic Centre, Rue de la Vallee (1998).                 

A Centenary Warrant was presented to Loyalty Lodge by Col. A. C. Hansard Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master on 19^th October 1910 at Masonic Temple, Le Marchant Street.

A Bi-Centenary Certificate of Illumination was presented by The Grand Secretary Very Worshipful Brother C.N.R. Brown on Saturday 16^th October 2010.

The Lodge has always prided itself on attracting members from a wide range of ages and professions across the full spectrum of society.
