Guernsey and Alderney Freemasons selected five local charities for their annual appeal.
Cheques were given to representatives of the charities by Keith Read, Head of Freemasonry in Guernsey, at a presentation held at the Masonic Centre, St Martin’s.
The charities received a total of £55,500, the majority of which was donated by individual Freemasons locally and £7,500 from The Masonic Charitable Foundation under their “matched funding” scheme.
Mr Read said that he was delighted that the Freemasons were able to support the five very worthy charities which are; Autism Guernsey, Guernsey Army Cadet Force, Help a Guernsey Child, Male Uprising Guernsey and Wigwam Support Group.
In addition to the main annual appeal, local Freemasons support a number of other charities in the Bailiwick each year with substantial donations.
