Bro Prince Philip HRH Duke of Edinburgh was born in Corfu on the 10th June 1921 the only son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg and he held the title of Prince of Greece and Denmark. He joined Freemasonry on the 5th December 1952 at the age of 31 being initiated into Navy Lodge No. 2612, passed to the second degree on the 6th March 1953 and raised to the third degree on the 4th May 1953 he was issued his Grand Lodge Certificate on the 7th May 1953 and remained a member of Navy Lodge until his death. Prince Philip was known to drop into meetings at his Lodge almost unannounced, Navy Lodge prides itself on being the premier Naval Lodge in the world and includes four monarchs as past members, King Edward VII, King Edward VIII, King George VI and King George II of the Hellenes. HRH Prince Philip passed to the Grand Lodge Above on the 9th April 2021 aged 99 years old and is buried at Windsor Castle.
