The Association of Guernsey Charities (AGC) has expressed its sincere thanks to members of the Light Blues Club of Guernsey and Alderney, from the Province of Guernsey and Alderney, who generously gave up their Wednesday evening to assist with the relocation of the charity’s office from the Cobo Community Centre.
The AGC has been based at the Cobo Community Centre for a number of years and recently made the decision to vacate the office space as part of a drive to reduce costs and ensure more funds can be directed towards supporting its many member charities and their important work across the Bailiwick.
Four members of the Light Blues Club – Matt Tostevin, Luke Vaudin, John Bell and Steve Byrne – volunteered their time to help move furniture, equipment, files and supplies from the office. AGC staff member Karen Solway was also on hand throughout the evening to help coordinate the move and ensure everything was transferred smoothly.
Much of the AGC’s equipment and archive materials are now being safely stored at the GSPCA, with the Association extremely grateful for both the storage space provided and the use of a GSPCA van which greatly assisted with the relocation.
The AGC would has thanked Luke Vaudin for the use of his trailer, which proved invaluable during the move.
Following the relocation, the Light Blues volunteers were given a tour of the GSPCA to see first-hand the work carried out by the charity and learn more about the exciting developments currently taking place as part of the charity’s rebuilding project.
Steve Byrne, a member of the Light Blues Club, Director of the Association of Guernsey Charities and GSPCA Manager, said:
“A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the move possible. We are very grateful to Matt, Luke, John and Karen for giving up their time to assist, and to Luke for kindly providing his trailer. We would also like to thank the GSPCA team for providing a van and storage space which has been a tremendous help.
“The Association of Guernsey Charities is always looking at ways to ensure that funds are used as effectively as possible for the benefit of our member charities, and this move is part of that commitment. We are also very grateful to the Cobo Community Centre for being such a welcoming home to the AGC over the years. We are sure it will continue to be a fantastic venue for training sessions, meetings and events for charities and community groups across the island.

The AGC, which represents and supports a wide range of charitable organisations across Guernsey and Alderney, remains committed to helping local charities thrive and ensuring resources are used where they can make the greatest impact within the community.
