In March Hansard Lodge No 3515 greeted 6 Brethren from Strand Lodge No 1987.
Many Brethren in the Province will know W.Bro Eric Abercromby extremely well and his wonderful musical talent that entertains many lodges and festive boards.
W.Bro Erics freemasonry didn’t actually start in Guernsey but in fact 60 years ago he joined his mother lodge which is Strand Lodge No 1987 who meet at Grand Lodge in Queen Street and who are part of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London.
The trip was somewhat of a surprise for W.Bro Eric thanks to W.Bro Grant Bailey PMETGStwd who met one of our Provinces Brethren from Mariners Lodge No 168 who was on a visit to Grand Lodge last year.
W.Bro Grant Bailey PMETGStwd, W.Bro Rob Collins LGR, W.Bro Mark Bailey LGR, Bro Andrew Clarke, W.Bro Bob Garrett LGR and W.Bro Simon Hayes from Strand Lodge No 1987 arrived for the March meeting of Hansard Lodge No 3515 and were made extremely welcome by the Worshipful Master and Secretary.
The evening was a great success and as well as the surprise visit from Strand Lodge and present W.Bro Eric with his certificate and history of his masonry an enjoyable talk was given on the UGLE 2022 Strategy and Members Pathway at the time by W.Bro Luke Vaudin and Bro Mike Stanford became Master Elect who has since been Installed into the Chair of King Solomon.
W.Bro Grant Bailey PMETGStwd said “We all had a great time visiting Hansard Lodge.”
“We were made to feel very welcome. It was great to see Eric again and experience Guernsey Freemasonry.”
“Thank you so much for the Ties, we plan on wearing them at our first meeting in October.”
“Please feel free to keep in contact and visit Strand if you find yourselves in London.”
“I am sure this won’t be the last time we visit Hansard if you will have us again!”
Worshipful Master Andre Quintal of Hansard Lodge No 3515 said “We at Hansard are and were honoured to host our Brothers from the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London Strand Lodge No 1987 to celebrate W.Bro Eric Abercromby’s 60th anniversary in freemasonry.”
“It was a fantastic evening and as Worshipful Master I commended him on his dedication and commitment to the craft.”
If ever a Brother is interested in visiting a Lodge outside of the Province please speak to your Lodge Secretary who can help with the process.
