Last month the GSPCA and Autism Guernsey collected the 62 dolphins from the Dolphin Discovery Trail which were all around the island throughout the summer all of which were decorated by local artists and sponsored.
Before they went to the auction they had been transported to the GSPCA to give them a little bit of TLC and were supposed to head to the Charities Seafront Sunday before going to the Peninsula Hotel where they were auctioned. Sadly due to the weather the Charities Seafront Sunday which Guernsey Freemasons had planned to attend with a stall was postponed but after an appeal from the charities for help 4 Guernsey Freemasons put their hands up to help the charities move as many as the dolphins as they could from the GSPCA to the Peninsula Hotel.
Brothers Andrew Sparks, Rob Grant, Steve Byrne and Matt Tostevin helped transport nearly half of the dolphins to the venue where they were on display ahead of the auction which took place on Wednesday 17th September 2025.
The auction raised over £80,000 to share between the two charities.
One of the dolphins called Echo was sponsored by Guernsey Freemasons and was decorated by St Martins Primary School. Echo as the dolphin is called at the auction was purchased and then donated back to the school which the children are delighted to have their dolphin back having been placed outside the Masonic Hall in St Martins since April.
