An acrylic cube containing a golden medallion, these medallions are given to the Provincial Grand Masters bearing the coat of arms of the current Grand Master when they are installed.
The medallion was presented to Sir John Henry Loveridge Kt. CBE, in 1969 when he was installed as the Provincial Grand Master for Guernsey and Alderney, by the Past Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England the 11th Earl of Scarborough just before his death.
The medallion bears the coat of arms of the United Grand Lodge of England on the reverse is signed by 11th Earl of Scarborough, Major-General, The Right Honourable Lawrence Roger Lumley KG, GCSI, GCVO, TD, PC, DL. who was the Grand Master of the UGLE from 1951 until 1967 he passed away on the 29th June 1969.
Sir John Loveridge (1912 – 1994) had a very active Masonic career having been initiated into Loyalty Lodge No.243 on the 14th December 1938 and Passed and Raised in 1939, after the five year suspension of Masonic activity he became the Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 1955, he held several Provincial Grand Ranks and became Provincial Grand Master on the 12th February 1969 and held the office until passed away in 1994 having served 25 years in the office, he also held Grand Ranks of Past Assistant Grand Registrar 1961 and Grand Chapter Rank Past Grand Standard Bearer in 1961. He was an Honorary member of Mariners Lodge No.168, Lodge Fidelis No. 1809, St Sampsons Lodge No. 2598, The Guernsey and Alderney Lodge of Installed Masters No. 8564, Sarnia Riduna Lodge No. 5840 (London), and Yarborough Lodge No. 244 (Jersey).
Outside of Freemasonry He was appointed Secretary to the Essential Commodities Committee when it was established in 1938. He continued in that post throughout the German Occupation. In 1945 he married Madeleine Melanie. In recognition of his services he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1946. After the war he continued his civil service career holding the post of Assistant States Supervisor, and was Bailiff of Guernsey from 1973 – 1982, and received his Knighthood in 1975.
