Recently Riduna Radio were pleased to announce the beneficiaries of its 2025 Advent Draw Appeal. With matched funding from the Freemasons of Guernsey and Alderney, a total of £5,025 was raised.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme – £660
The DoE scheme will run two practice and two qualifying expeditions in 2026, most taking place off-island. Transport costs alone for one Bronze expedition are estimated at £2,330.76. Students, parents, and volunteers are fundraising independently, and this grant contributes £60 per Bronze student towards travel costs.
Alderney Animal Welfare Society – £600
This funding will support two AAWS team members to complete the Blue Cross 10-week accredited pet loss support training. The training will enhance end-of-life care and bereavement support for elderly pet owners, while also supporting staff wellbeing.
Alderney Amateur Boxing Club – £1,265
Following closure during COVID and the retirement of senior coaches, AABC is rebuilding after securing its licence in 2025. The funding will help coaches obtain and maintain Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications, which require off-island training in Guernsey or the UK.
The Parish of St Anne, Alderney – Ground in Grace – £2,500
This award supports the continuation of Ground in Grace, a community initiative offering practical help, hospitality, and early-intervention support for individuals and families facing financial pressure. Funds will be used locally, primarily for food vouchers, ensuring direct benefit to Alderney residents.
