Guernsey & Alderney Freemasons will mark their 273rd anniversary of Freemasonry in the Island’s with a special Open Day at the Masonic Hall.
The public are invited to explore the rich history and heritage of Freemasonry in the Bailiwick, with a day filled with guided tours, engaging presentations, and other activities.
You can join us for a guided tour of our unique building and lodge rooms, followed by an engaging talk on the rich history of the story of Freemasonry. You’ll also have the chance to take part in an open Q&A session with members of the lodge. Everyone is welcome, to come discover something new.
If you are interested in becoming a member then you will be able to talk to members and learn more about the organisation and what we do. You will also be able to talk to the Guernsey & Alderney Women’s Freemasonry who are joining us on the day, helping to dispel one of the myths that Freemasonry is for men only.
Explore our masonic heritage with members of the Museum and Library able to show artifacts and if one of your ancestors was a member we’ll be able to give you details on your family history.
One of the Freemasons organising the open day, Simon Hamon, commented: “There are many myths and theories about Freemasonry and sometimes it may be difficult to distinguish between the myths and the actual facts.”
“By opening our doors to the public, we hope to dispel these myths and show the public what we really are about and the good we do within our local community, especially our charity work.”
The hall and gardens will be open from 10am to 3pm, admission is free and everyone is most welcome to visit.
