Bro Randolph Henry Spencer-Churchill

Brother Randolph Henry Spencer-Churchill was born on the 13th February 1849 in London England, to John Winston Spencer-Churchill and Frances Anne Emily Vane, He was at first privately educated, and later attended Tabor’s Preparatory School at Cheam, London. In January 1863 he went to Eton College, where he remained until July 1865.

Randolph Churchill and his elder Brother George Spencer-Churchill were initiated into The Churchill Lodge No.478, on the 9th February 1871 Passed on the 3rd March and Raised on the 6th November the same year. At the general election of 1874 Churchill was elected to Parliament as Conservative member for Woodstock, near the family seat of Blenheim Palace, defeating George Brodrick, a Fellow of Merton. His maiden speech, delivered in his first session, prompted compliments from William Harcourt and Benjamin Disraeli, who wrote to the Queen of Churchill’s “energy and natural flow”., Bro Churchill ended his political career as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Bro Randolph was the father of another Famous Freemason Brother Winston Churchill, he passed to the Grand Lodge Above on the 24th January 1895 at the age of 45, he is buried at St Martins Church, Oxfordshire, England, his son died exactly 70 years after him and is buried in the same cemetery.
