Two Brethren from the Province recently made the trip to visit the Science Fiction and Fantasy Lodge No.10016 who meet in the Province of Staffordshire.
Founded on the 22nd July 2022, the legend says that when the galaxies, stars and planets are in precise alignment a new Lodge can be formed, a Lodge that has the perfect blend of Masonry, Sci-fi fandom and Fantasy at its very heart.
A Lodge unlike any other under the banner of the United Grand Lodge of England..
They meet in Burton upon Trent, 4 times a year on the second Saturday in June, September, December and March.
They are a daylight Lodge and meetings start at 11am.
Their members come from all over the country and they welcome visitors from numerous different Provinces at their meetings.
Our own Bro Steve Byrne from Mariners Lodge No 168 and W. Bro. John Davis from Balfour Cockburn Lodge No 2805 met up at Burton upon Trent to visit the lodge and enjoyed a fantastic ceremony led by their Worshipful Master Justin Randle and a very unique festive board.
The meeting started in darkness with lightsabers lit in place of deacon wands and a tyler armed with a bat’leth and some slight variations which are well worth a visit to see. They held a second degree which was extremely well worked by all and welcomed 9 joining members and are awaiting a further 3 at their next meeting.
The ceremony was very much enjoyed by the visitors who after the meeting got a chance to have a few pictures followed by a very unique festive white table where partners joined the festivities and nearly all the Brethren and some of the ladies got dressed up in Sci-fi and Fantasy costumes.
Our Brethren dressed as TNG and original Stark Trek characters and the range of costumes was wonderful to see and a very tasty meal was had by all and as their banner said ‘Today is a good day to dine!’.
