The Jewel is Georgian Silver made by Thomas Harper and is dated 1810, in the centre of the jewel between the two pillars and beneath the arch is a silver gilt sun in glory.
The compasses are set in the second degree and the whole jewel is highly decorated. The jewel has been held by the museum since 1935.
Past Masters will wear a Jewel suspended from a collar however this one is very decorative and detailed, the Immediate Past Master following his year as master of the Lodge will sit to the left of the Master and assist him in his work, he will usually propose the toast to the Master at the festive board.
